'Disowning family... quitting politics': Tejashwi Yadav's sister after RJD loss
What's the story
Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav, has announced her decision to leave politics and disassociate from her family. The announcement came a day after the RJD suffered a major defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. In a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), Acharya said she was asked to take this step by senior RJD leader Sanjay Yadav, who is close to Tejashwi Yadav.

Acharya's cryptic post hints at family disownment
In her post, Acharya wrote, "I'm quitting politics and I'm disowning my family... This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do ...nd I'm taking all the blame's (sic)." The reason behind her decision remains unclear. However, it adds to the turmoil within the RJD, which has already seen the expulsion of Lalu Yadav's eldest son, Tej Pratap.
Party split
Tej Pratap's exit and formation of Janshakti Janata Dal
Notably, Tej Pratap had formed his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal, after his expulsion from RJD. The new party contested the recent elections independently and even fielded a candidate against Tejashwi from the Raghopur Assembly seat. However, it failed to win any seats in the polls, including Mahua, from where Tej Pratap contested.
