The Kauvery Hospital, where Karunanidhi is admitted, further said that maintaining the former CM's vital organ functions was proving to a challenge owing to his age-related ailments. Details about Karunanidhi's declining health

According to NDTV, Karunanidhi has contracted jaundice and is facing breathing difficulties consequently, thereby resulting in a fluctuating health condition. The 94-year-old DMK chief has been hospitalized since July 28, when he was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital for fever and urinary tract infection. However, even after initial treatment, doctors advised a longer stay due to an age-related overall decline in Karunanidhi's health.

Since his hospitalization on July 28, the five-time Tamil Nadu CM has seen several high profile visitors including the likes of President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu. Karunanidhi was also visited by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, former PM H D Deve Gowda, and actors-turned-politicians Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Meanwhile, DMK supporters continue to pray for Karunanidhi's recovery.
