Amazon's Leo Ultra: Satellite internet just got a speed boost

Technology

Amazon is jumping into the satellite internet game with Leo Ultra, which it calls "the fastest customer terminal in production."
Promising download speeds up to 1Gbps and uploads at 400Mbps, Leo Ultra is part of Amazon's big push to bring fast internet everywhere—even places regular broadband can't reach.

Faster than Starlink, plus extra security

Aimed mainly at businesses and governments, Leo Ultra is launching in a private preview ahead of a commercial rollout expected sometime next year (pricing still under wraps).
It's bigger than your average laptop at 20x30 inches and offers direct connections to AWS and other cloud networks.
Notably, it outpaces Starlink's business plans on speed.
Amazon also introduced two smaller antennas for different needs.
Security-wise, Leo Ultra offers private networking services, which could address vulnerabilities found in older satellite systems—so your data gets an extra layer of protection.
