Apple just made AirDrop safer with 1-time codes
Technology
With iOS 26.2, Apple has rolled out AirDrop codes—a new way to keep random people from sending you files.
Now, when someone tries to share something and you're not in their contacts, your device shows a one-time code they have to enter before the transfer goes through.
It's an easy step that helps stop unwanted or accidental sharing.
What else is new?
AirDrop settings now have a fourth option: you can temporarily allow non-contacts to send you files for up to 30 days—no need to add them permanently.
There's also a refreshed management section under Settings > General > AirDrop, so it's simple to see and control who can reach you.
This update is all about making file sharing smoother while giving you more privacy and control.
