AWS outage takes down websites and apps worldwide
Technology
On Monday, a big AWS outage caused major websites and apps—like Snapchat, Roblox, Signal, and even Amazon's own store—to go down for people all over the world.
In the UK, banks like Lloyds and government sites such as HM Revenue and Customs also felt the impact, leaving many users frustrated and disconnected.
DynamoDB database issues caused the outage
The outage was traced back to issues with Amazon's DynamoDB database, which a ton of apps rely on.
It's a reminder of how much the internet depends on just a few cloud providers.
While some services, like HMRC and Canva, are mostly back online, others (like Ring) are still having problems as AWS works to fix everything and clear the backlog.
