Bengaluru startup Grahaa Space set to launch its 1st nano-satellite this November

Technology

Grahaa Space, a Bengaluru-based startup, is gearing up for its debut satellite launch after getting IN-SPACe approval.
Their Solaras S2 nano-satellite will take off from Brazil by the end of November 2024, hitching a ride on Korea's Hanbit-Nano rocket by Innospace.

What's the Solaras S2 mission about?

Solaras S2 is a tiny nano satellite designed to test Grahaa Space's satellite tech in actual orbit.
This mission lays the groundwork for building a whole network of satellites that could deliver near real-time Earth images and data.
Up next: more missions with Skyroot Aerospace to try out advanced communications and optical payload.

Why does this matter for India?

Grahaa Space was co-founded by ex-ISRO scientist Dr. Loganathan Muthuswamy and former IBM-er Ramesh Kumar V.
With support from STIIC at IIST Thiruvananthapuram and the Viskan Group, they're aiming to put India on the map for commercial nanosatellites and smarter space data services—making space tech more accessible than ever before.
