China produces 38% of elite AI researchers but loses them
Turns out, winning at AI isn't just about tech or money: it's about who has the best minds.
According to MacroPolo's latest report, China produces the most top-tier AI researchers (38% of the world's total), but struggles to keep them: most end up working in the US.
The report points out that countries need to focus on keeping their talent if they want to stay ahead in AI.
India loses 80% of AI researchers
India is next after China, contributing 10% of elite AI researchers globally.
But only 2% of those trained in India actually stay; a huge 80% move to the US for better opportunities.
As AI policy adviser Kelly Forbes, global AI policy advisor puts it, building stronger homegrown ecosystems (with better pay and infrastructure) could help both countries keep their brightest minds around.
