China's Foreign Ministry firmly denies Anthropic's Claude misuse claims
China has firmly denied accusations from US tech firm Anthropic, which said Chinese companies were secretly using its Claude AI models to build their own systems.
Anthropic's report named Alibaba as allegedly using more than 3,500 accounts that Anthropic described as fraudulent, Moonshot AI as relaying requests through 5,380 accounts, and DeepSeek as facing distillation attacks.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning called the claims "distorting facts" and stressed that Beijing "advocates AI for good."
Anthropic alleges Alibaba 151 million+ Claude interactions
Anthropic claimed Alibaba had more than 151 million interactions with Claude between May and July, using more than 3,500 fraudulent accounts to train its Qwen model.
Moonshot AI and DeepSeek were also accused of similar tactics.
Some exchanges reportedly involved sensitive info like internal CCTV footage, sparking concerns about privacy and rule-breaking.
