Cloudflare outage disrupts LinkedIn, Zoom, and more

Technology

Cloudflare, the company that helps keep much of the internet running smoothly, had its second outage in a month on Friday.
Big names like LinkedIn and Zoom were hit for about 30 minutes in the morning.
Cloudflare explained it was caused by emergency firewall tweaks to fix a software vulnerability—not a hack or attack.

Why it matters and what experts say

About 28% of Cloudflare's traffic was affected before things got back to normal just after 9am GMT.
The company apologized and promised to share how they'll prevent this in the future.
Still, some experts are uneasy—Steven Murdoch pointed out how risky it is when so much depends on one provider, while Michal Wozniak highlighted that even big tech has weak spots.
