Divergent Technologies opens Long Beach 3-D factory boosting missile production
Technology
Divergent Technologies is opening a huge 3-D printing factory in Long Beach, California.
With 64 Monolith One 3D printers, this place will be able to crank out more than 30,000 missile airframes and 60,000 warhead casings each year, eight times more than before.
It's all part of the U.S.'s push to quickly rebuild its weapon stockpiles after recent conflicts.
Divergent Technologies adds over 1,000 jobs
The factory is set to bring over 1,000 new jobs and plans to add even more printers soon.
At its core is Divergent's Digital Additive Production System (DAPS), which speeds up production from months to days and lets it easily switch things up based on demand.
DAPS is already trusted by big names like Lockheed Martin, RTX, and even supercar maker McLaren.
