Ducati launches Monster 821 superbike at Rs. 9.51 lakh
Italian automobile maker Ducati has launched the 2018 edition of its Monster 821 in India. This new superbike comes at an introductory price of Rs. 9.51 Lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new Monster 821 draws inspiration from some of the previous Ducati bikes while also incorporating the latest specs and features. Here's our roundup.
Redesigned tank, new LED headlamp and an all-new exhaust
The 2018 edition of the Monster 821 gets a redesigned fuel-tank and new rear design (inspired by the 1993 Monster M900), an all-new exhaust and an updated LED headlight (from the Monster 1200). The bike also features a new color TFT instrument console which displays current gear, fuel level and can also be paired to a smartphone via an optional Ducati Multimedia System.
An 821 cc, liquid cooled BS IV complaint engine
The Monster 821 is powered by a BS IV compliant liquid-cooled 821 cc Testastretta L-twin engine which delivers a maximum power of 109 bhp at 9,250 rpm and peak torque of 86-Nm at 7,750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an optional bi-directional quick-shifter and a slipper clutch. Ducati claims the bike will give a fuel efficiency of 18.51 kmpl.
The Monster 821 offers three riding modes
The bike offers three riding modes - urban, touring and sport. Moreover, each mode has different settings for throttle response, ABS and traction control. In the urban mode, the power drops to about 75 bhp while you get maximum output in sport and touring modes.
A refined suspension and new Brembo brakes for smooth handling
The Monster 821 sports a refined suspension including a 43mm fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Further, the bike comes with dual 320 mm discs and M4-32 monobloc radial calipers up front and a 245mm disc at the rear with a two-piston caliper coupled with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 120/70 tyre on the front and 180/55 on the rear.
The Monster 821 comes in three colors; bookings now open
The bookings for the all-new Monster 821 are now open and deliveries will start by June first week, across all Ducati dealerships in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Kolkata. Notably, the bike comes in three color options - Yellow, Black, and Red.
