Google, FBI, US carriers target outsider enterprise AI phishing network
Google, the FBI, and major US phone carriers are teaming up to fight a massive AI-driven phishing network called Outsider Enterprise.
This group used smart tools to send fake text messages and build scam websites that looked like banks or even Google itself, trying to steal passwords and payment information from everyday users.
Google is also pushing for tougher anti-scam laws.
Outsider enterprise used ready-made scam kits
The scale was wild: in just two weeks, Android users got 55,000 scam text messages while Google caught 2.5 million related messages.
Outsider Enterprise made it easy for users with limited technical expertise to impersonate trusted brands using ready-made kits and templates.
Now, with law enforcement involved and Google calling for legislative changes and supporting seven bipartisan bills, there is hope for safer inboxes ahead.
