The company is backing Anthropic by powering its work with Google's own TPUs (tensor processing units) at a huge New York data center, pretty much mirroring how NVIDIA encourages demand for its GPUs.

Google isn't stopping there: it's now planning to sell TPUs directly to more customers and has rolled out a new chip designed for faster, cheaper AI processing.
Some clients are already seeing up to 30% cost savings and four times the speed.
