Google launches 1st smart speaker in 5 years at $99
Google just dropped its first smart speaker in five years, the Google Home Speaker, for $99, landing in stores June 25, 2026.
It's got a sleek 3-D-knit mesh look and promises richer audio with 360-degree sound. You can even pair two speakers for stereo vibes if you have the Google TV Streamer.
Preorders are already open if you want to be first in line.
Google Home speaker adds Gemini features
Google Home Speaker comes in four colors, porcelain, hazel, jade, and berry, and is powered by Gemini for Home, which lets you chat naturally without saying "Hey Google" every time.
It also handles camera feed searches and multi-step commands.
Some cool extras like Gemini Live and Home Brief need a Google Home Premium subscription ($10 a month) or $20 a month if you want features like round-the-clock Nest camera recording and longer event history.
