Google Lens and Search can now spot scams for you

Technology

Google just dropped a handy new update: Circle to Search (on Android) and Google Lens (in the Google app on Android and iOS) can now use AI to flag scammy messages.
Whether you're on Android or iOS, you can use Google Lens in the Google app to help catch fraud attempts before they catch you.

How it works on your phone

On Android, just long-press the home button and circle any sketchy text.
On iOS, screenshot the message and open it with Lens in the Google app.
The AI checks things like message patterns and sender behavior, then gives you a quick verdict on whether it's likely a scam—plus tips on what to do next.

Smarter protection, no extra cost

The AI only steps in when it's really sure something's off, so you won't get random warnings.
It's designed to spot classic scams—think urgent money requests or shady links—and guide you safely through what to do.
Best part? This upgrade is available for both Android and iOS users.
