Google releases Android 17 and Wear OS 7 with AI
Google just rolled out Android 17 and Wear OS 7, starting with Pixel devices.
The big news? Both updates are packed with fresh AI features: think Gemini Omni for quick video edits, Lyria 3 for making music from text or images, and AudioLM to help turn speech into translations (especially on the Pixel 10a).
It's all part of Google's push to level up before Apple's next iOS update lands in September.
Google updates Android and Wear OS
Android 17 brings a handy "bubble bar" for multitasking and lets you record your screen plus your selfie at the same time, perfect for reaction vids.
Security gets a boost too, with real-time threat alerts and a "Mark as Lost" option in Find Hub.
Parental controls now have PIN-protected screen time limits.
Over on Wear OS 7, app mirroring on Pixel Watches is smoother, you can create widgets just by typing what you want, and battery life gets a nice bump (up to 10% longer).
Sharing files between Android Quick Share and Apple AirDrop is easier too on older Pixel 8a and 9a devices, making it less hassle to swap stuff across devices.
