Google Gemini app gets AI podcast feature: How to use

    What's the story

Google has added a new capability into its Gemini app, allowing users to generate audio summaries from Deep Research.

The new tool lets users convert the detailed reports generated by the app into a conversational podcast format with two AI "hosts."

The tech giant first brought the feature to its AI note-taking app NotebookLM last September, and has been improving it by letting users interact with the hosts.

    Accessibility

AI podcast feature now available to all Gemini users

The audio summary feature was rolled out to both free and Advanced subscribers of the Gemini app earlier this week.

This addition allows users to convert presentations and documents into AI podcast-like dialogues.

The tool comes especially handy for Deep Research, Google's "agentic" AI capability that lets Gemini explore a particular topic by browsing the web and generating an elaborate report based on its findings.

    Feature enhancement

Audio summary feature enhances research process

Upon completing a report, users can now choose the "Generate Audio Overview" option to hear an audio summary based on the research.

The enhancement, as we said, is aimed at making the research process more interactive and engaging for users.

Google continues to innovate and expand its offerings in AI technology, and this latest development is a testament to its commitment toward creating user-friendly tools.
