Huawei overtakes Samsung as top foldable smartphone brand

Technology

Big news in tech: For the first half of 2025, Huawei has overtaken Samsung as the world's top foldable smartphone brand, grabbing 48% of global shipments—more than double Samsung's 20%.
Just last year, Samsung was leading with a 45% share.
While foldables are still a small slice of the phone market, they matter for brands wanting to stand out and charge premium prices.

Huawei's diverse lineup drives success

Huawei's edge comes from offering something for everyone—from the budget-friendly Nova Flip at $750 to the ultra-premium Mate XT Ultimate at $4,000.
This range has helped them capture Huawei leads the Chinese foldable market, which has the highest adoption rate globally at 3.2%.
Meanwhile, Samsung sticks to three models priced between $900 and $2,000 but is losing ground as Huawei expands its lineup.

Foldables are here to stay

Foldable phones aren't just a fad—shipments are forecast to continue growing through 2027 as tech improves and prices drop.
Plus, more than half of users in key markets say they'd consider switching to a foldable device.
So don't be surprised if these bendy phones go mainstream soon!
