India to reach over 1.1 billion 5G subscriptions by 2031
Technology
India is gearing up for a massive 5G wave: by 2031, more than 1.1 billion 5G subscriptions in India are expected to be on 5G, making up about 81% of all mobile connections.
That's a huge leap from earlier estimates and shows just how quickly the country is moving past older tech.
FWA drives 4G decline to 160 million
As more people want faster speeds and better connectivity, the number of 4G subscriptions is set to drop sharply, from 570 million in 2025 down to just 160 million by 2031.
A big reason for this rapid change is Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), which offers high-speed internet at home without cables.
Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are pushing this product quite prominently, making fast internet more accessible than ever.
