iPhone 16 leads global smartphone sales in Q3 2025

Technology

The iPhone 16 just claimed the top spot as the world's best-selling phone in Q3 2025, grabbing four percent of all shipments—even with the iPhone 17 already out.
Its strong run was boosted by festive shopping in India and a market rebound in Japan.
Plus, for the first time in a Q3 quarter, all of the top five best-sellers were 5G phones, showing how quickly people are shifting to faster tech.

Samsung Galaxy A series stands out for Android fans

Samsung's Galaxy A series made a big impact too, with the Galaxy A16 5G leading Android sales and beating its own 4G version.
Mid-range models like the A36 and A56 got more popular thanks to better AI features and longer software updates.
Meanwhile, in places like Latin America and Africa, affordable LTE models such as the Galaxy A16 4G and A06 stayed favorites among buyers.
