ISRO SAC, Andhra University develop AI to spot rip currents
ISRO's Space Applications Centre (SAC) and Andhra University are developing Project Bharati, an AI-powered system designed to spot dangerous rip currents along the coast in real time.
By using satellite images, weather data, ocean conditions, and live monitoring feeds, it helps keep swimmers safer from those sneaky currents that can pull people out to sea, one of the leading causes of drowning on beaches globally.
AI alerts lifeguards and warning boards
The AI scans tons of environmental information and quickly flags risky spots.
If a threat pops up, it sends out alerts on warning boards, makes announcements, and even messages lifeguards directly so they can act fast.
With smarter tech doing the heavy lifting, lifeguards get better information and beach safety gets a major upgrade.
