June 15 to 17 Venus occultation caps 3-day planetary alignment
Heads up, skywatchers! From June 15-17, 2026, you can catch the crescent moon teaming up with Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury for a rare lineup in the evening sky.
The big moment is on June 17 when Venus will briefly disappear behind the moon, a lunar occultation you don't see every day.
It's also your last good chance to spot Jupiter before it fades into the sun's glare later this month.
Three-night skywatch with India visibility
On June 15, look northwest after sunset to see Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus almost in a straight line.
By June 16, a thin crescent moon joins up near Mercury.
Then on June 17, watch as the moon gets super close to Venus, an eye-catching sight especially visible from India.
This lineup is special because these planets won't be this easy to spot together again anytime soon!
