Maharashtra partners with Starlink to bring satellite internet to remote areas

Technology

Maharashtra just became the first Indian state to partner with Elon Musk's Starlink, aiming to deliver satellite internet to its most remote districts like Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Washim, and Dharashiv.
The partnership was announced on November 5 with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) and is all about closing the digital gap for communities that have struggled with poor connectivity.

Digital Maharashtra mission

This move mainly supports government offices and key public infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, and disaster response centers.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said it fits perfectly with Maharashtra's Digital Maharashtra mission and will also help push projects like electric vehicles and coastal development.
By plugging these regions into high-speed internet, the state hopes more people can join in on digital opportunities and growth.
