    What's the story

Microsoft has revealed the technical specifications and key features of its next-generation gaming console, the Xbox Series X.

According to the company, the Series X will be the "most powerful Xbox ever," capable of running 4K graphics at up to 120 frames per second.

The new console will also get an upgraded graphics card and a custom-built AMD processor.

    System on chip

The console will be powered by an octa-core 3.8GHz processor

The Xbox Series X will be powered by an octa-core AMD Zen 2 CPU, clocked at up to 3.8GHz. This SoC will be aided by a custom RDNA 2-class GPU with 12 teraflops of power and 52 compute units clocked at 1.82GHz each.

According to AMD, this architecture "is the biggest generational leap of SoC and API design" done by the company with Microsoft.

    Information

It will also come with latest memory and storage formats

Under the hood, the Series X will pack 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and custom made 1TB of NVME SSD drive. The console will also support external storage via 1TB expansion card which can be attached to the USB 3.2 External HDD slot.

    Features

Microsoft has also introduced new Velocity Architecture for improved performance

The Xbox Series X also gets a new "Velocity Architecture," which features tight integration between hardware and software for an optimized streaming experience. As per the company, this will allow "100GB of game assets to be instantly accessible by the developer."

Microsoft is also working with the HDMI forum and TV manufacturers to add support for variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode.

    Information

The console will support a new Quick Resume technology

With Quick Resume technology, you can resume a game right from where you left off; this feature will be available for multiple titles as well. Hence, you can easily play 3-4 games and switch between them whenever you like without any loading time.
