NASA-ISRO's NISAR satellite to begin mission on November 7
NASA and ISRO's new NISAR satellite is ready to kick off its mission on November 7, 2024.
Launched in July 2024 from India, it's just finished its check-ups and is now prepped to scan our planet like never before.
NISAR will track soil moisture, forest health, crop growth
NISAR packs two powerful radars—one from NASA, one from ISRO—that can see through clouds, forests, and even the dark of night.
It'll track things like soil moisture, forest health, crop growth, and melting ice every 12 days.
Basically: better info for tackling climate change and managing natural resources.
Other big things on ISRO's calendar
NISAR isn't the only big thing on ISRO's calendar. The first uncrewed Gaganyaan space mission is coming in January—with hopes of sending astronauts by 2027.
Plus, they're working toward launching an Indian space station module by 2028 and building a full orbital lab by 2035 for longer missions in space.
