NIT Tiruchi opens Tata AI and ML center with ₹10cr
NIT Tiruchi just opened the Tata Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, powered by a ₹10 crore boost from the TCS Foundation.
The big idea? Bring together students, researchers, and industry experts to work on real-world tech challenges.
At the launch, K. Krithivasan, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), noted that AI is no longer merely a productivity-enhancement tool, but reminded everyone that using it responsibly is key.
Tata Centre names 5 research domains
The center will focus on five major research domains: healthcare, education, agriculture, smart cities, and transportation and digital infrastructure services.
Five new Ph.D. scholars, each diving deep into one of these fields, have already joined in.
There are also fresh partnerships with AgriX (for smarter farming) and IIIT Bengaluru (to build better digital public infrastructure), plus collaborations with SASTRA and Maharana Pratap Institute, Gorakhpur.
The event even gave a shout-out to hackathon winners and all the new scholars joining the mission!
