Northern lights might be visible in these US states tonight
Heads up: the Northern Lights could make a rare appearance over 10 US states tonight (Monday night), thanks to solar winds stirring up minor geomagnetic storms.
The light show may continue through Wednesday, offering a chance to catch some aurora magic across mid-latitude states.
Where you might spot them
NOAA says the best chances are in Alaska, Washington, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Maine, Michigan, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Idaho.
Some spots in Canada could get lucky too.
Tips for catching the aurora
For the best view, find a dark area away from city lights and clouds—the best viewing is typically from 9pm to 3am centered around midnight.
Give your eyes about 30 minutes to adjust and look north at a low angle on the horizon for your shot at seeing those green waves.
