Orionid meteor shower is here: How to watch

Technology

Heads up, skywatchers! The Orionid meteor shower—thanks to bits of Halley's Comet—will light up the night sky from October 2 to November 7, peaking around October 22.
Expect fast, bright meteors streaking by, renowned for their speed and continuous trails.

Tips for best viewing experience

For the best view, head outside around the peak, which lasts about a week around October 22, preferably somewhere dark and away from city lights.
No telescope needed—just your eyes.
Bring a warm jacket and maybe a comfy chair, then look up and enjoy those persistent trains.

More about Halley's Comet

These meteors come from debris left by Halley's Comet (last seen in 1986; next visit in 2061).
They appear to shoot out from the Orion constellation—so if you spot Orion in the sky, you're looking in the right direction!
