On the night of August 27-28, 2026, a partial lunar eclipse will cover almost all (96%) of the moon.
The show starts at 9:23pm EDT and peaks around 12:12am EDT on August 28.
If you're on Earth's night side, you'll get a front-row seat as Earth's shadow slowly dims and then nearly covers the moon.
Visible unaided ends 3:01am EDT
You don't need any fancy gear; just step outside and look up. But if you have binoculars or a telescope, you'll see even more detail as the shadow moves across those craters.
The event wraps up at 3:01am EDT when Earth's shadow leaves the Sturgeon Moon.
Missed it? You'll have to wait until December 31, 2028, for another eclipse this impressive!
