A Rs. 299 phone is available in the market
With the advent of JioPhone, feature handsets have received a new boost in terms of popularity. Other telcos, too, are bringing out handsets at rock-bottom prices. Then again, how low can a phone maker price its device? Well, it can be as low as Rs. 299. This Rs. 299 phone by Detel India caused quite the buzz at India's First Mobile Congress. Here's more.
Local phone maker Detel India's cheapest feature phone model, Detel D1, costs Rs. 299. The firm isn't a well known one, however, it claims to have shipped close to one million Detel D1. Even, in the recently held IMC, the firm claimed that all the phones that it had brought were sold off. The price is inclusive of GST and they are also available offline.
Munish Jindal, Vice President of Detel, said, "The phone is a feature phone which has 1.44 inch of Monochrome Display. The phone has single SIM facility and it is powered by a 650 mAh battery. It may sound unbelievable but it's true. It has Torch Light, Phonebook, FM Radio, Speaker, and Vibration Mode too." All these features are available for Rs. 299.
In case you are looking for a little bit of an upgrade, you can shell out Rs. 100 more and get the Inovu I7, which looks very much like the revamped Nokia 3310. You get a 1.44-inch black and white display along with 32MB RAM and 64MB storage. It has a 600mAh battery and contains a torch LED light and FM Radio connectivity.
Feature phones are making a comeback and there are several reasons behind it. These handsets are excellent as a backup phone that comes with stellar battery life. You don't expect miracles out of them, but they do come in handy when you need to give your primary phone for repairs or add a local SIM while traveling.
