Roblox lets creators publish standalone games on mobile, PC, consoles
Big news from the Roblox Developer Conference: creators will soon be able to release their games as standalone apps for mobile, PC, and consoles: no need to go through the main Roblox app anymore.
As Nick Tornow, senior vice president of engineering at Roblox, put it, "The native standalone apps native will allow our creators to go directly to their players."
This update gives developers more freedom and helps players find new games more easily.
Roblox adds multiplayer safety and payouts
Roblox is backing these standalone apps with built-in multiplayer, account management, and safety tools, so developers can focus on making fun games instead of worrying about the basics.
By year's end, you will be able to play games straight from Chrome browsers.
Offline solo play modes are coming by mid-2027 for areas with spotty internet.
Plus, their AI-powered Build tool is expanding to Singapore and Serbia, following its alpha launch in New Zealand, and has already helped create around 9,000 games, 71% of which were made by creators who had never used the company's 3D creation tool Roblox Studio.
Creators can now get each business day payouts in real money through Roblox Wallet to US-based independent creators 18 and older. Since 2013, they have earned more than $5 billion!
