Sridhar Vembu adds in-app pronunciation feature to Arattai for Diwali

Zoho's founder Sridhar Vembu just rolled out a cool new feature on the Arattai messaging app: now, if you double-tap the logo at the top left, you'll learn how to pronounce Arattai the right way.
This update, part of their Diwali release, aims to help users unfamiliar with Tamil learn the pronunciation in-app.
Arattai name debate spurred Vembu response
After Arattai took off last year, people online started debating whether its name was too tricky for non-Tamil users. Some even suggested changing it.
Vembu jumped in on X (formerly Twitter), sharing that he had previously addressed the discussion through a post on X in October 2025.
With this new feature, more users can join in without feeling left out, and learn that Arattai simply means casual conversation in Tamil.
