Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has set a new record for the most sixes in a single edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. He hit eight sixes in the final against New Zealand on Sunday, taking his total to an unprecedented 24. Samson went on to score a stunning 46-ball 89 runs as India posted 255/5 and later won by 96 runs. Here we look at the batters with the most sixes in a T20 World Cup edition.

Sanju Samson - 24 sixes in 2026
Samson played just five matches in the 2026 edition, having been benched for India's first few games. However, he made the opportunity count by hitting a total of 24 sixes in these outings. Samson's innings in the final took his 2026 T20 WC tally to 321 runs from just five matches at 80.25. He had a stellar strike rate of 199.37, with three fifties to his name. As India tasted glory, Samson walked away with the Player-of-the-Tournament award.

Finn Allen - 20 sixes in 2026
The only other batter with 20 sixes in an edition happens to be NZ's Finn Allen. He clocked exactly 20 maximums in the recent event. Allen was instrumental to NZ's run to the final, providing solid starts in several key matches. He finished with 298 runs across eight innings at an average of 49.66 and a strike rate of 200.00. This includes a century against South Africa in the semi-final match off just 33 balls. Allen also clocked a fifty.

Shimron Hetmyer - 19 sixes in 2026
Earlier in the tournament, Shimron Hetmyer of West Indies became the first batter to clock 19 sixes in a T20 WC edition. He achieved this feat during a Super Eights match against India, which turned out to be WI's final game. Hetmyer, who hit 19 sixes across seven innings, finished with 248 runs at an average of 41.33. His strike rate was a stunning 186.46 (50s: 2).

Farhan & Kishan - 18 sixes in 2026
Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan and India's Ishan Kishan smashed 18 sixes each in the 2026 event. The former finished with 383 runs in six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, including two centuries and as many fifties. These are the most runs by a batter in a T20 WC edition. Meanwhile, Kishan scored 317 runs in nine innings at an average of 35.22 and strike rate of 193.29, including three fifties.
