Here's why Ronaldo has put Madrid and United on alert

Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the GOATs of modern-day football. His career was defined by sensational stints with Real Madrid and Manchester United. While he is playing for Serie A champions Juventus currently, as per recent reports, he has put his former clubs on high alert, stating that he could return to either one following his stint in Turin. Here is more.

Ronaldo eyes return to former club as free agent

As per a report published in Diario Gol, Ronaldo has informed Juventus that he is not looking forward to an extension and would leave the club following the end of his current contract in June 2022. The report adds that while a move to China or USA's Major League Soccer is also on the cards, he is likely to choose Madrid or United.

    Ronaldo: A sensational United product

If we analyze Ronaldo's reign at United, he was truly amazing. In his six-year reign, Ronaldo won nine honors at Old Trafford. It includes three EPL titles, one FA Cup, twin League Cups, a Community Shield, one UEFA Champions League title and the FIFA Club World Cup. He also won a number of individual awards, including the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'Or.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed interest in having Ronaldo back

Meanwhile, it was reported a few months back that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was interested in having Ronaldo back at Old Trafford. It should also be noted that both played together at United for four years and won the 2003-04 FA Cup, along with 2006-07 EPL. "If Ronaldo wants to come home then maybe we should take him back, eh?" Solskjaer had said.

Ronaldo was a force at Madrid

Considering Ronaldo's tenure at Madrid, it was one of the greatest in modern-day football. It is where he played for nine seasons and managed to score 450 goals in 438 appearances, which is a record. His titles include La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España and UEFA Super Cup (twice each), along with four UEFA Champions League and three FIFA Club World Cups.

Madrid and United in desperate need of Ronaldo's services

While Ronaldo continues to deliver for Juventus, United and Madrid are in desperate need of Ronaldo's services. Madrid were off to a shaky start to the season, they have recovered well and are currently placed atop the table. As for United, they are placed on the 12th spot. So, United need him the most. Will the Prodigal Son return? Let us wait and watch.
