Lando Norris has clinched the coveted pole position for the 2026 Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, beating Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in a nail-biting finish. The McLaren driver clocked a blistering lap time of 1:11.163 at Circuit Zandvoort, just as rain threatened to disrupt the session. Despite Russell's strong performance, Norris managed to outpace him by a 10th of a second in what was an intense conclusion to qualifying.

As rain loomed over Circuit Zandvoort, Norris opted for another lap, a decision that paid off handsomely. He not only secured pole position but also set the fastest time of the session.

Ferrari drivers Hamilton and Leclerc finish 5th and 6th
Scuderia Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc secured fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
They were closely followed by Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson, who weren't far off the lead.
Gabriel Bortoleto and Arvid Lindblad rounded out the top 10 in a strong showing for their teams.
Alpine's Pierre Gasly narrowly missed out on Q3 by less than a 10th of a second but still managed to qualify ahead of his former teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

Sainz, Bearman, Bottas, Perez are Q1's biggest losers
Carlos Sainz was eliminated from Q1 by a narrow margin of 0.022s to his teammate, settling for P17, as per the official F1 site. Ollie Bearman also faced an early exit as he was knocked out in P20, just ahead of Cadillac drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.

Russell wins Dutch Grand Prix Sprint
Earlier on Saturday, Russell won the Dutch Grand Prix Sprint, cutting his Formula 1 2026 championship deficit to teammate Antonelli down to 56 points.
The win at Zandvoort was Russell's third Sprint victory of the season.
He started from pole position and held off an early challenge from Norris before the latter fell behind Leclerc's Scuderia Ferrari.
Despite being on softer tires, Leclerc managed to overtake Norris for second place with a brilliant move at the first corner on lap 18.
