India vs England: Visitors announce squad; Archer, Root miss out
The ECB has announced England's squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. Notably, fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss the impending assignment after his elbow injury is found to have aggravated. England's 14-member squad for the ODIs doesn't feature Joe Root too, who flew back home after the Tests. However, leg-spinner Matt Parkinson has been recalled after a year.
England will miss the services of Archer
As per recent reports, Archer will fly back home for "further management and investigation" of his right elbow injury. It is understood that his injury has got worse over the course of five-match T20I series. Meanwhile, an ECB release also stated that the fast bowler will miss the first half of Indian Premier League 2021, in order to recover.
Call-ups for Parkinson, Livingstone and Topley
Leg-spinner Parkinson, who made his ODI debut in South Africa in February 2020, has been recalled into the side. The 24-year-old is yet to take his maiden ODI wicket. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley, who weren't a part of England's last ODI assignment, have also been picked. The duo was also with England's T20I squad this time, but did not get a game.
