Chris Gayle to miss T20I and ODI series against India

Chris Gayle is a beloved cricketer in India and fans were looking forward to seeing the hard-hitter play in the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Men In Blue. However, to the dismay of all, Gayle will not be taking part in these two series. He has opted out, citing personal reasons. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on October 21.

WICB has released a statement about Gayle's absence

"We will be without Chris Gayle for this Indian tour and the next tour against Bangladesh as he has declined selection at this time, however, he has made himself available for the selection for the visit of England to the Caribbean and the World Cup"

How did West Indies perform in the first Test?

West Indies have played one out of the two scheduled Test matches against India, and did not fare well in it. They lost the match within three days, with Indian spinners ruling the roost. Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries as India put up a total of 649/9 before declaring. West Indies scored 181 and followed on with 196.

Which players have found themselves in the squad?

"As we continue our Cricket World Cup preparations, the upcoming tour of India provides a great opportunity to expose some of our young talents", said the WICB president. Keeping this mind, opener Chandrapaul Hemraj, all-rounder Fabian Allen and fast bowler Oshane Thomas have been picked up. Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Darren Bravo have been added to the T20I squad as well.
