'Matter of time' - Brook on his return to form

    What's the story

England's stand-in cricket captain, Harry Brook, is feeling pretty confident after getting back in form.

How come? Well, he smashed a solid 87 runs, helping England secure a 186-run victory over Australia in the rain-affected fourth One Day International (ODI).

Brook's innings played a key role in setting Australia a challenging target of 312 runs, which they couldn't chase down.

    Series status

Brook's performance levels ODI series against Australia

The fourth ODI was a make-or-break match for England as they were behind in the series.

Thanks to Brook's stellar performance, they managed to level things up at 2-2, making the finale all the more exciting.

And this wasn't the first time he made headlines in the series; he had already scored a century in the third match, sparking England's comeback.

    Self-assurance

Brook expresses confidence in his form

In a post-match chat, Brook shared his confidence in his form, saying, "It felt like only a matter of time for me."

He added that he felt he had been playing well all summer and just needed everything to click.

His recent performances have certainly validated this belief, as he has been instrumental in England's comeback against Australia.

    Team recognition

Brook praises England bowlers for their performance

While discussing his own match-winning performance, Brook also took a moment to praise his team's bowlers for their exceptional work.

He highlighted Jofra Archer's crucial wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell, saying, "They (England bowlers) bowled beautifully."

This praise underscores the collective effort that went into England's victory and sets a positive tone ahead of the series decider.

    Criticism response

Brook defends against criticism from former England captains

Brook's captaincy and performance haven't been without their share of critics.

Former England captains Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook had previously challenged his methods during a Test loss to Sri Lanka at the Oval.

However, Brook has silenced his critics with his recent performances in the ODI series against Australia, showing he can adapt to different formats and lead his team effectively.
