Rohit's 79 helped India chase down 252 to lift the cup. Rohit became only the fourth captain to be adjudged the Player of the Match in men's ICC tournament finals. Rohit is also the second captain to win ICC titles in both ODI and T20I formats, joining the great MS Dhoni.

According to Kausthub Gudipati, Rohit now has the most successive wins for an Indian captain in ICC events. India won 13 such matches under him, starting from the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. They won eight successive matches at that event.

Following a long break that saw Gill take over the reins of India's ODI side, India reached Australia for a three-match ODI series. There were questions over the roles of Rohit and Kohli in the ODI setup. While Kohli performed well in Sydney, a shredded Rohit shut the critics with scores of 73 and 121*. The latter was the Player of the Series. Rohit became only the third Indian with 50 international tons, joining Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Rohit became the first visiting batter to complete six ODI tons in Australia. He broke a tie with Kohli and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (5 each). Rohit also became the first Indian to complete 1,500 ODI runs Down Under.

Rohit continued his sublime form in the home ODI series against South Africa. He recorded scores of 57, 14, and 75. During the SA series, Rohit became the batter with the most sixes in ODI history. He displaced former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi at the top. The dasher also became the third Indian to complete 11,500 ODI runs. Across 279 ODIs, Rohit has scored 11,516 runs at 49.21. His tally of 33 ODI tons is the third-most for any batter.
