India vs England, third T20I: Hosts set target of 157

    What's the story

Team India was bothered by pace after being put into bat by England in the third T20I in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

India suffered badly in the first six overs with the Englishmen all over them.

Mark Wood was terrific with the ball.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Virat Kohli impressed largely (77*) and helped the side score some crucial runs.

    Here's the mid-innings report.

    Rahul

Rahul fails for the third successive time

KL Rahul registered a second successive duck in the ongoing series.

The opening batsman was late on the ball by Mark Wood and the gaping hole between bat and pad was breached.

Rahul's approach was poor and he needs to sit back and work on his technique really.

With scores of 1, 0, and 0, things haven't gone well for the dashing batsman.

    PP overs

India falter in the first six overs

Team India managed just 24 runs in the first six overs, losing three wickets.

The hosts were done by serious pace and the manner of dismissals showed.

Rohit Sharma's decision to go for a front-foot pull against express pace hurt his cause.

Similarly, Ishan Kishan's dismissal of a short ball came from a full-blooded hook as he got a massive top-edge.

    Kohli

Kohli resurrects India's innings, smashes 27th T20I fifty

Virat Kohli played a good hand and resurrected the Indian innings which was thrown apart after a poor approach in the powerplay.

He added a 40-run stand alongside Rishabh Pant (25).

The partnership was going well as Pant's cameo ended after he got run out.

Kohli added another 22-run stand alongside Shreyas Iyer.

He scored his 27th T20I fifty and accelerated at the death.

    Wood

Mark Wood impresses for the Three Lions

Mark Wood was brilliant with his offerings and his pace troubled the Indian batsmen.

His dismissal of Rahul was a peach. Wood also got the dangerous Rohit and then hit India hard by getting Iyer.

His three wickets were priceless and England benefited from his presence.

However, his last over was expensive as Kohli attacked.

Earlier, he had taken 1/20 in the first T20I.
