Ind vs NZ 2nd ODI: Match highlights and records broken

After a good bowling effort in the first innings in the second ODI, India comfortably managed to chase down a target of 231 runs set by New Zealand, to level the 3-match ODI series 1-1. Shikhar Dhawan, and Dinesh Karthik made significant contributions to India's victory with knocks of 68 and 64* respectively. Let's have a look at some of the interesting statistics.

100th ODI between India and New Zealand

Today's match, in Pune, was the 100th ODI between India and New Zealand. In ODI history, this is the 10th instance where two teams have played 100+ ODIs. Interestingly, Indian team features 5 times on this list.

India restricts New Zealand to 230

Having won the toss, New Zealand decided to bat first. On a green Pune pitch which supported fast bowling, Bhuvneshwar Kumar did the job for India picking three wickets of Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, and Henry Nicholls, while Jasprit Bumrah picked up important wickets of Kane Williamson and Mitchell Santner. The bowlers were able to restrict the Kiwis to 230/9 in 50 overs.

    Most ODI sixes in 2017

While Rohit Sharma tops the list of slamming most ODI sixes in 2017 with 31, Hardik Pandya, after today's match, comes a close second with 30 sixes.

    Some interesting facts

This is the first time, in last four years, that Kane Williamson got out with single digit scores in successive ODI innings. Interestingly, this is the first time Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled out 2 players in an ODI. Since 2015, Indian team has used most number of players at number 4 position in ODIs, 12. Yuvraj Singh has played the most among them, nine times.

    Dhoni close to 10,000

With 9801 ODI runs after today's match, MS Dhoni is not far from the 10,000 run milestone. He will become the 11th player and 4th Indian to achieve this mark.
