What's the story

On Sunday, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was fined for breaching the code of conduct during his side's loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the match number 47 of IPL 2019. Rohit was fined 15 percent of his match fee for showing dissent after the umpire adjudged him LBW, as he hit the stumps with the bat. Here are the details on what happened.

Charge

Rohit charged with Level 1 offence

As per the reports, Rohit was charged under the Level 1 offence of 2.2 of the Code of Conduct of IPL. It was also reported Rohit had accepted the sanctioned fine so there was no need of a formal hearing. Interestingly, this is not the first time he has been fined this season, as last month he was reprimanded for maintaining slow over rate.

Displeasure

Rohit expresses displeasure over the decision

It all happened when Mumbai were chasing a hefty target of 233, while Rohit was playing in a composed manner. However, he was adjudged leg-before for just 12 in the fourth over. As Rohit reviewed the decision, the hawk-eye showed that the ball was clipping the leg stump. The DRS went in favor of Umpire's Call, which infuriated Rohit and he hit the stumps.
