IPL 2021: Punjab score 195/4 against DC

Punjab Kings rode on Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul's respective fifties to post 195/4 against Delhi Capitals in match number 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Put into bat, Punjab made most of the opportunity as the openers gave a sublime display of batting. After their dismissal, DC got back into the game. Here's the mid-innings report.

Punjab post 59/0 in the PP overs

Punjab got off to a terrific start, scoring 59 runs in the powerplay overs. With the pitch supporting batsmen, Mayank Agarwal took the initiative and started freely. He was well supported by skipper Rahul as the two brought up the fifty-plus partnership in the fifth over. A strong start is what Punjab needed after a disappointing performance in the last match.

    Mayank scores a breezy 36-ball 69

Mayank and Rahul continued in a strong fashion after the PP overs and kept scoring at a brisk rate. Mayank brought up his fifty in the 10th over and then smashed Kagiso Rabada for two sixes in the 11th. He was dismissed by Lukman Meriwala after chipping a slower ball to deep point. He managed a 36-ball 69, hitting seven fours and four sixes.

Rahul scores second fifty in IPL 2021

Rahul, who celebrates his birthday today, played the second fiddle in the opening 122-run stand. The right-handed batsman brought up his second fifty in IPL 2021. Earlier, he had smashed 91 against Rajasthan Royals in the first game. The Punjab supremo got to his fifty after facing 45 deliveries. He ended up with a 51-ball 61 in the end.

DC hit back with crucial wickets; Hooda, Shahrukh shine

The DC bowlers came back into the game after dismissing Mayank in the 13th over. In the 16th over Kagiso Rabada got the dangerous Rahul before Chris Woakes dismissed Chris Gayle in the next over. Nicholas Pooran made nine as Avesh Khan got the southpaw in the 19th over. For Punjab, Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan chipped in with useful cameos.
