What's the story

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be looking to secure their second consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Defending champions RCB will take the field as hot favorites as CSK lost both of their first two games. Here we look at why they are expected to dominate CSK in the upcoming affair.

RCB's batting

RCB's top order in prime form

RCB started their IPL 2026 campaign on a high note, chasing down 202 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The win was a result of their well-settled top order led by Virat Kohli's 69*. Devdutt Padikkal also made a strong comeback with an impressive 61 off just 26 balls. Proven big hitters like Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, and Krunal Pandya form the team's middle and lower order. This makes RCB one of the best batting units this season.

Bowling woes

CSK's bowlers under pressure

CSK's bowlers have struggled in the first two matches of IPL 2026, conceding a whopping 338 runs in just over 32 overs for seven wickets. Their spinners Noor Ahmad and Rahul Chahar were taken for 84 runs in eight overs against Punjab Kings. The pacers Matt Henry, Khaleel Ahmed, and Anshul Kamboj are yet to deliver a match-winning performance. With the Chinnaswamy being a high-scoring venue, the struggling CSK attack faces a formidable challenge against RCB.

Bowling prowess

RCB's bowling department showing improvement

RCB's bowling department, once considered their Achilles's heel, has shown significant improvement. Jacob Duffy stepped up in the absence of Josh Hazlewood and took three wickets against SRH. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shepherd also bowled well in the game. As the CSK openers struggled in the first two games, Bhuvneshwar and Duffy will back themselves to strike with the new ball. Though CSK's middle order delivered well against PBKS, the team's top order would be required to step up.
