A right-arm leg spinner, Rahul Chahar was born on August 4, 1999, in Rajasthan. Unlike many others, playing cricket was an obvious choice for Chahar. He grew up playing cricket with his cousin Deepak Chahar, another international cricketer. Both were coached by his uncle Lokendra Singh Chahar, a cricket coach. Chahar’s cricketing journey began as a fast bowler but he switched to spinning the ball when he realized that his talent lay there. He made his first-class debut for Rajasthan against Odisha in 2016. Chahar received his big break when Rising Pune Supergiants bought him to play in the 2017 IPL. On the back of a successful outing in the 2018-2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Chahar made his international debut. His debut came against the West Indies in a T20I in 2019. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2021. Chahar was named in India’s 15-man squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates.
