    Kashmiri boy wins Asian Karate Championship

    Kashmiri boy wins Asian Karate Championship
  • Hashim Mansoor from Bandipora district of Kashmir won the gold medal at the Asian Youth Karate Champions in Delhi.

    He was participating in the sub-junior category i.e. below 25kg category and defeated Sri Lankan opponent in the finals.

    Seven year old Mansoor has also qualified for the World Karate Championships next year and will represent India at the tournament.

    Mehrajuddin Wadoo is one of the few footballers from Sarai Balla, Srinagar and is now a part of Indian football team and ISL team Chennaiyin FC.

    Parveez Rasool became the first cricketer from the valley to represent India.

    Eight-year old wins sub-junior World Kickboxing Championships
  • Tajamul Islam created history by becoming the first Indian player in sub-junior category to win the World Kickboxing Championship. She defeated her opponent from United States Of America in the tournament.

    The eight-year old hails from Bandipora district in J&K and had won Indian national kickboxing championship in 2015.

    Winning most local champions in 2015, she aims to represent India at the Olympics.

  • The eight-year old in an interview said that she was proud of the win and wants to take her village to new heights. She added, "I want to appeal to all the Indian parents to support their children and encourage and motivate them towards sports."
