What's the story

Over a decade after making his debut, Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah has finally taken his maiden T20I four-fer. And it came at the grandest of stages - the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup final. Bumrah took 4/15 as New Zealand perished for 159 while chasing 256 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. He became the first Indian with a four-fer in T20 WC knockouts.

Start

Bumrah, Axar shine in Powerplay

NZ had a steady start as they were 30/0 in the third over. After being introduced in the Powerplay, spinner Axar dismissed the dangerous Finn Allen, who was earlier dropped by Shivam Dube. And Bumrah, with his magic arm, removed Ravindra on his match's first ball. Axar also knocked over Glenn Phillips, reducing NZ to 47/3 in the Powerplay.

Finish

Bumrah breaks NZ's middle order

Despite NZ's struggle, Tim Seifert accelerated at the other end. He smashed a 26-ball 52 to get NZ past 70, but Varun Chakravarthy defused the threat. NZ were out of the contest at 72/5 in the ninth over. Although Mitchell Santner hung around, it was too late. Bumrah dismissed James Neesham and Matt Henry on successive balls before removing Santner. NZ perished for 159.
