    Usman Khawaja has smashed his maiden double-century in Tests.

    He attained the landmark on Day 2 of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Australia in Galle.

    Australia resumed Day 2 on on 330/2 after 81.1 overs were possible yesterday.

    Khawaja started his exploits with an 147*. Steve Smith was unbeaten on 104.

    On Day 2, Smith perished for 141 before Khawaja marched ahead.

    Khawaja has dominated the Lankans

    Alongside Smith, Khawaja deflated the Sri Lankan bowlers on Day 1.

    Day 2 continued in the same vein as both players cashed on.

    After a watchful first few overs, Khawaja hit the first four of the day right after crossing 150. He played his shots and handled spin beautifully.

    Once Smith departed (141), Josh Inglis joined Khawaja. A rapid 74-run stand followed.

    Khawaja and Smith ended with a 266-run partnership. It's now the 2nd-highest stand in Sri Lanka-Australia Tests (any wicket). Travis Head and Joe Burns' 308-run stand in Canberra (4th wicket) remains the highest tally.

    As per ESPNcricinfo, Khawaja has become the 2nd Aussie batter to smash a double-century versus Sri Lanka in Tests.

    He joins Michael Slater, who hit 216 runs at the WACA in Perth, 1995.

    Meanwhile, Khawaja is the 3rd batter in Sri Lanka vs Australia Tests to hit a double-century after Slater and Dinesh Chandimal.

    Khawaja is currently unbeaten on 204 from 298 balls. He has smoked 16 fours and a six.

    The southpaw has raced to 5,839 runs at 45.61. He has 16 tons and 27 fifties.

    In nine matches versus Sri Lanka (15 innings), he owns 568 runs at 51.63. On Wednesday, he hammered his 2nd ton against the Lankans.
