What's the story

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the schedule for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The tournament will kick off on April 11, 2025, with a match between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Notably, the 2025 PSL will overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is scheduled from March 22 to May 25. Here's more.

Tournament details

PSL 2025: A look at the tournament structure

The PSL 2025 comprises of 30 league matches. They will be followed by the Qualifier on May 13, Eliminator 1 on May 14, and Eliminator 2, which is scheduled to be held on May 16. The final showdown is set for May 18 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium. Rawalpindi will host a majority of the matches (11), while Lahore will stage an even higher number (13).

PSL 2025: PSL CEO expresses excitement, reveals venues for tournament

Apart from Rawalpindi and Lahore, Karachi and Multan will also be the venues for PSL 2025. Each city will host five games. PSL CEO Salman Naseer expressed his excitement about the tournament and stated, "We are thrilled to officially announce the schedule for the historic 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League," as per India Today. "The fans in this year's tournament will not only see high-profile international cricketers but will also witness 34 high-octane matches," he further added.

Player participation

PSL 2025: Challenges and player participation

The IPL's scheduling clash has previously hindered the PSL's ability to attract foreign players. Additionally, the PCB struggled with salary cap constraints while signing overseas talent. Despite these challenges, several international stars, including David Warner, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Rishad Hossain, Rilee Rossouw, Litton Das, David Willey, and Kyle Jamieson, are set to feature in the tournament.
