Described as the "pocket rocket," David Warner is the first cricketer since 1877 to make his debut for Australia without playing a single first-class game. On his international debut against South Africa in a T20I in 2009, Warner announced his arrival by scoring 89 off 43 balls. Soon he made his ODI debut against South Africa the same year. In an Australian team that was struggling on all fronts, Warner provided a ray of hope. An aggressive opening batsman, when Warner was handed his Test debut in 2011, not many thought that he will provide the stability Australia needed at the top of the order. He hit the doubts out of the park as he did with the ball when he became only the 13th Australian opener to carry his bat through an innings. In the next seven years until 2018, Warner was undoubtedly the most successful opener in Test cricket. He has showcased his talents in T20 leagues as well. The most successful foreign player in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he is also the fourth batsman to score more than 10,000 runs in the T20 format.
